My Kind of Game

Very nice game - I completely enjoyed the graphics and animation, and the gameplay itself was ok. As other people have said, it was slightly lacking in complexity, but I still found it a bit challenging at some moments: I had to use my shield strategically and time my attacks right to win (although I guess this may not have been totally necessary, based on other reviews). It was fun nevertheless.

As soon as I saw the title, I knew MaestroRage's work would be in it. :P Good choice of music. The ending cinematic was pretty suspenseful as well -- enough so to make me look forward to a sequel!

Thank you very much :)
Im glad you liked the game and used all the moves stragetically even though its not completely necessary. I was afraid people might find the ending very unsatisfactory and its nice to hear you liked it. I dont know if I'll start with the sequel very soon. Maybe I'll do some other projects first.

By the way your new site looks great and I think you totally nailed the whole "professional" feel. I'll visit it later and have a proper look around :)
Thanks again!

Absolutely Amazing!

Great game! I can't say it's very original - there seem to be a number of similar defense games out there already - but this one makes significant improvements on all of them. The "cartoonish" style graphics that the gameplay presented allowed me to feel more at ease with its environment, and the custom scenario feature was definitely a plus. Nuclear Tanks are pretty awesome as well. Keep up the good work!

Thank you.
It's nice to see an artist such as yourself finds my work well made.

Not horrible...

Well, I've seen worse games than this - it looks like you made a good effort. It is definitely lacking in formality in terms of graphics and gameplay, however. I would never suggest a colour changing background like that - not only does it lag, as you noted in your comments, but it's not the most aesthetic thing to look at either. As stated in past reviews, there also seems to be a lack of coherence in the game's objectives - it's all a bit too varied.

My relative was playing your game, when she started to laugh at a sentence you made - "Meet Buster with an adult present." I know that this means "Meet Buster when an adult is around.", but when you first look at it, it sort of looks like it means "Meet Buster, and bring him a gift that you've ordered from an online porn site." You might want to rework the wording a bit. ;)

Overall, nice attempt - Good luck in the contest!

Thanks for your review, and about the buster thing, yea I see why it sounds like that now.

Great!

I'm slightly worried about entering the Wiggi World contest now - this is the first entry that I've been completely impressed with. The idea is original, the gameplay is fun, and the variety between the levels and seeds is impressive.

However, as its been said in a past review, the menus could perhaps use a bit of brushing up, and the power recharge was a bit slow, causing a slight annoyance at times.

Overall, great game - good luck in the contest!

Thanks for the review. Didn't mean to cause anyone worry! But I'm glad that you were impressed. I tried to compensate for the energy situation with a change made to give a bit of energy each time garbage is collected. But... that doesn't do anything for the recharge rate, which seems to be the more annoying issue.

One thing I thought about these games is that, if they are on a site like Wiggi World where kids can gearn "credits" as they play them, then a certain amount of required mastery is probably a good thing. Meaning that, the better/more-efficient you get at playing, the better score you can achieve. I myself, having of course designed the levels, am able to make it through the game with at least a bit of energy to spare on each level, in under the time limit for some extra points, and with an overall score of over 13,000. That's without collectinge every single piece of garbage, of course. And that takes a bit of mastery, as I said. But that's what it would take to earn the top credit amount, which sort of makes sense.

I demand an explanation!

I do not understand, in the least, how this game does not have a rating of at least a 4.00. Sometimes the voting of NG users truly confuses me. I have tried to make a flash rpg game before, spending about 2 months on it (but giving up shortly after) and I can't even put a value on how much better this game is than it.
The graphics are absolutely amazing - may I ask how you made them? The entire world is like a work of art, and I am greatly interested in how you managed to create it.
The sound is ok, but I would have liked to hear some possibly less cheerful, more "intense" music during the battles. The music during fights made it seem as if I had already won. More sound effects would be nice as well.
The gameplay does get a bit repetitive quickly - I'm not a huge fan of random battles, but I respect that some people find them more fun than frustrating. It would have been nice, as I think has been mentioned before, if the keyboard could be used to control the character in battle.
The scripting behind the game looks rather complicated - I'm surprised it didn't start lagging. (Or perhaps it did, and I just couldn't tell.) I find that when I add too much script to my own games, the lag becomes unbearable. It seems to be fine here though. I liked how the computer characters walked around the town themselves, and then stopped when you impede their way - a small detail, probably, but it was impressive to me. :P
Overall, great game, perfect graphics. I wish I could make games at least half as well as this! Excellent work.

SnailsAnimation responds:

Hi! Thank you for the great comments.
We too were expecting more than the score we have at the moment, but it's slowly raising :) So it's cheering up, and especially after seeing all the nice reviews. About the graphics, some of the animations were made on paper then later traced and colored in flash (mostly in chp1). In chapter two, most of the enemies were drawn directly in flash (with a graphic tablet). As for the backgrounds, they were made in photoshop.
About the music, we know it could fit better in some places, and that's why someday we wish to have our own Mesiria soundtrack. That would be so sweet!
About the actionscripting, we are actually 2D animators who learned programming, not the inverse. So programming for us is a real challenge! We're really happy you were impressed.
Thanks again, and try to beat us at the battle mode (Vurmit and BloodyMarie)
